By the spring of 2004 NIM had doubled in size by constructing a large fabrication department. The following year NIM purchased a sheet metal works company and moved its operations to its Hartsville, SC location. Expanding further in 2009, NIM purchased Precision Components and Services, located in Patrick, SC. In 2011, NIM began offering industrial construction services and expanded into the capital projects market. The latest round of expansion took place in 2016 when Sun Superior was purchased and NIM’s heavy fabrication and machining departments were relocated to Darlington, SC.
